حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ كَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يُذَكِّرُ كُلَّ خَمِيسٍ أَوْ اثْنَيْنِ الْأَيَّامَ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا أَوْ ف
َقِيلَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَّا لَنُحِبُّ حَدِيثَكَ وَنَشْتَهِيهِ وَوَدِدْنَا أَنَّكَ تُذَكِّرُنَا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يَمْنَعُنِي مِنْ ذَاكَ إِلَّا أَنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُمِلَّكُمْ وَإِنِّي لَأَتَخَوَّلُكُمْ بِالْمَوْعِظَةِ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَخَوَّلُنَا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
'Abidah — meaning Ibn Humayd — narrated to us, from Mansur, from Abu Wa'il who said: ''Abdullah used to give a reminder every Thursday — or Monday — every few days. We said — or it was said to him: O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, we wish that you would remind us every day. He said: What prevents me from doing so is that I dislike boring you. I try to time my reminders to you just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to time his reminders to us, fearing weariness upon us.'
