Hadith #428
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَ
رَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ فَالْأَمِيرُ الَّذِي عَلَى النَّاسِ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ وَالرَّجُلُ رَاعٍ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ وَالْمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ عَلَى بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا وَهِيَ مَسْئُولَةٌ وَالْعَبْدُ رَاعٍ عَلَى مَالِ سَيِّدِهِ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ أَلَا فَكُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. The leader who is over the people is a shepherd and he is responsible for his flock. A man is a shepherd over the members of his household and he is responsible for his flock. A woman is a shepherdess over her husband's home and his children and she is responsible for them. And a servant is a shepherd over his master's wealth and he is responsible for it. Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock.'
