English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Waki', from Ibn Abi Khalid, from Qays — that 'Abdullah said: 'We were with the Prophet ﷺ when we were young men. We said: O Messenger of Allah, should we not castrate ourselves? He forbade us [from that]. He then gave us dispensation to marry a woman [contractually] for a garment for a [fixed] term. Then 'Abdullah recited: 'Do not forbid the good things which Allah has made lawful for you' [5:87].'
