English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya, from 'Ubayd Allah, from Nafi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade al-shighar [exchange marriage]. He said: 'I asked Nafi': "What is al-shighar?" He said: "It is when a man gives his daughter in marriage and in return marries [the other man's] daughter — or a man gives his sister in marriage and in return marries [the other man's] sister — without a dowry."'
