حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ د

ِينَارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ إِذَا سَلَّمُوا فَإِنَّمَا تَقُولُ السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقُلْ عَلَيْكَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya, from Sufyan, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar — that he said: 'I heard Ibn 'Umar say: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When Jews greet you, what they are saying is: al-sam 'alayk [death be upon you] — so say: 'Alayk [and upon you].'"'' — [Second chain] via Yahya, from Malik, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar, from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet ﷺ — the like of it.
