English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Wahhab ibn 'Abd al-Majid, from Ayyub, from Nafi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade al-muzabana [a speculative barter sale]. Nafi' would explain it as: fruit on the tree being bought on the basis of an estimated amount of dried dates by a named measure — 'if it turns out more, the surplus is mine; if less, the shortfall is my loss.'
