حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ سَالِم

ٍ أَنَّ شَاعِرًا قَالَ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَبِلَالُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ خَيْرُ بِلَالِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ كَذَبْتَ ذَاكَ بِلَالُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abdullah [ibn Ahmad], from Ibrahim ibn Sa'id, from Abu Usama, from 'Umar ibn Hamza, from Salim — that a poet said in the presence of Ibn 'Umar: 'And the Bilal of 'Abdullah is better than [the] Bilal.' Ibn 'Umar said to him: 'You have lied — that is the Bilal of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
