Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْه
ِمْ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ فَطَعَنَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ فِي إِمْرَتِهِ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنْ تَطْعَنُوا فِي إِمْرَتِهِ فَقَدْ تَطْعَنُونَ فِي إِمْرَةِ أَبِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَخَلِيقًا لِلْإِمَارَةِ وَإِنْ كَانَ لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ وَإِنَّ هَذَا لَمِنْ أَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ بَعْدَهُ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sulayman, from Isma'il, from Ibn Dinar — that the Prophet ﷺ sent out an expedition and appointed Usama ibn Zayd as commander over them. Some people objected to his leadership. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and said: 'If you object to his leadership — you [already] objected to his father's leadership before him. By Allah, his father was truly worthy of command and was among the most beloved of all people to me. And this [son] is among the most beloved of people to me after him.'
