Hadith #81

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَعْطَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ جَارِيَةً مِنْ سَبْيِ هَوَازِنَ فَوَهَبَهَا لِي فَبَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَى أَخْوَالِي مِنْ بَنِي جُمَحٍ لِيُصْلِحُوا لِي مِنْهَا حَتَّى أَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ أَاتِي
َهُمْ وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُصِيبَهَا إِذَا رَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهَا قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ حِينَ فَرَغْتُ فَإِذَا النَّاسُ يَشْتَدُّونَ فَقُلْتُ مَا شَأْنُكُمْ قَالُوا رَدَّ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبْنَاءَنَا وَنِسَاءَنَا قَالَ قُلْتُ تِلْكَ صَاحِبَتُكُمْ فِي بَنِي جُمَحٍ فَاذْهَبُوا فَخُذُوهَا فَذَهَبُوا فَأَخَذُوهَا

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Ibn Ishaq, from Nafi' the freed slave of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave 'Umar ibn al-Khattab a female captive from the captives of Hawazin, and he gave her to me. I sent her to my maternal uncles from Banu Jumah to prepare her for me while I performed tawaf around the House, intending to go to them and be with her upon my return. When I came out of the mosque after finishing, the people were running. I asked: "What is the matter?" They said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has returned our children and women to us [i.e., the captives were released]." I said: "That woman is with Banu Jumah — go and take her." So they went and took her.'
