حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَخْبَرَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ أَنَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ أَخ
ْبَرَهُ أَنَّ نَافِعًا أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يُحْسَدُ مَنْ يُحْسَدُ أَوْ كَمَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ عَلَى خَصْلَتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى الْقُرْآنَ فَهُوَ يَقُومُ بِهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَرَجُلٌ أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ مَالًا فَهُوَ يُنْفِقُهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Ali ibn 'Ayyash, from Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Salih ibn Kaysan, from Isma'il ibn Muhammad, from Nafi' — from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: 'Envy is [permitted] only — or as Allah willed it to be said — in two cases: a man whom Allah (تعالى) has given the Quran and he recites it night and day; and a man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it [in His cause].'
