حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعْبَةَ الطَّحَّانُ جَارُ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ إِنْسَانٍ يَصِيحُ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَسْكَتَهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّ
حْمَنِ لِمَ أَسْكَتَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّهُ يَتَأَذَّى بِهِ الْمَيِّتُ حَتَّى يُدْخَلَ قَبْرَهُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنِّي أُصَلِّي مَعَكَ الصُّبْحَ ثُمَّ أَلْتَفِتُ فَلَا أَرَى وَجْهَ جَلِيسِي ثُمَّ أَحْيَانًا تُسْفِرُ قَالَ كَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَهَا كَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّيهَا

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah, from Abu Shu'ba al-Tahhan, from Abu al-Rabi' — that he said: 'I was with Ibn 'Umar at a funeral when he heard a person wailing loudly. He sent someone to silence him. I said: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, why did you silence him?" He said: "The deceased is harmed by it until he is placed in his grave." I then said to him: "Sometimes I pray Fajr with you and when I turn around I cannot see the face of my neighbor [it is so dark]. Other times [you pray it] in greater light." He said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray it that way, and I love to pray it as I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray it."'
