English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Isma'il, from Yunus ibn 'Ubayd, from Ziyad ibn Jubayr — that a man asked Ibn 'Umar while he was walking in Mina: 'I vowed to fast every Tuesday — or Wednesday — and that day falls on the Day of Sacrifice [Nahr]. What do you think?' He said: 'Allah (تعالى) has commanded the fulfillment of vows, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — or: we were — forbidden from fasting on the Day of Sacrifice.' The man thought he had not been heard and repeated his question. He gave the same answer and said no more until he ascended the mountain.
