English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hajjaj and Abu al-Nadr, from Layth, from Nafi' — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ burned and cut down the date palms of Banu al-Nadir — which is al-Buwayra. Then Allah (تعالى) revealed: 'Whatever you have cut down of palm trees or left standing on their trunks — it was by permission of Allah' [59:5] — to the end of the verse.
