English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Bahz, from Hammad ibn Salama, from Ya'la ibn 'Ata', from Nafi' ibn 'Asim — from the Prophet ﷺ: 'Whoever drinks wine and becomes intoxicated — his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. If he drinks again and becomes intoxicated — his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. If he drinks again and becomes intoxicated — his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights. And [likewise for] the third and the fourth time — if he drinks and becomes intoxicated, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights, and if he then repents, Allah will not accept his repentance, and it becomes incumbent upon Allah to make him drink from 'Ayn Khabal.' It was asked: 'What is 'Ayn Khabal?' He said: 'The pus [sadid] of the people of the Fire.'
