English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Khalaf ibn al-Walid, from Ibn 'Ayyash, from Sulayman ibn Sulaym, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather — that Umayma bint Ruqayqa came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to give him her pledge of allegiance upon Islam. He said: 'I pledge you on the condition that you do not associate anything with Allah, do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not kill your child, do not bring a false accusation that you fabricate with your own hands, do not engage in wailing [lamentation for the dead], and do not display your adornments as in the first pre-Islamic era [jahiliyyah].'
