حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى بِهِمْ يَوْمَ كَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ ابْنُهُ فَقَامَ بِالنَّاسِ فَقِيلَ لَا يَرْكَعُ فَرَكَعَ فَقِيلَ لَا يَرْفَعُ فَرَفَعَ فَقِيلَ لَا يَسْجُدُ وَسَجَدَ فَقِيلَ لَا يَرْفَعُ فَقَامَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ فَفَعَلَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَتَجَلَّتْ الشَّمْسُ
English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Sufyan, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from his father — that the Prophet ﷺ led them in prayer on the day the sun eclipsed — the day his son Ibrahim died. He stood with the people in the prayer, and they thought he would not bow — then he bowed. They thought he would not rise — then he rose. They thought he would not prostrate — then he prostrated. They thought he would not rise — then he stood for the second rak'ah and did the same. And the sun cleared.
