Hadith #45

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُشَّانَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ ثُلَّةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ لَفُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الَّذِينَ يُتَّقَى بِهِمْ الْمَكَارِهُ وَإِذَا أُمِرُوا سَمِعُوا وَأَطَاعُوا وَإِذَا كَانَتْ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ حَاجَةٌ إِلَى السُّلْطَانِ لَمْ تُقْضَ لَهُ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ وَهِيَ فِي صَدْرِهِ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَدْعُو يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْجَنَّةَ فَتَأْتِي بِزُخْرُفِهَا وَزِينَتِهَا فَيَقُولُ أَيْ عِبَادِي الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوا فِي سَبِيلِي وَقُتِلُوا وَأُوذُوا فِي سَبِيلِي وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِي ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ فَيَدْخُلُونَهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ وَلَا عَذَابٍ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنهما) — via Hasan, from Ibn Lahi'a, from Abu 'Ushana — that he heard 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr say: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The first group [thulla] to enter Paradise are the poor among the Muhajirun — those who are used as shields against hardships, who die with their needs unfulfilled in their chests. Allah will call them on the Day of Resurrection and say: Who are these people? The angels will say: O our Lord, we do not know them. He will say: They are those whose needs were unmet — those used as shields against hardships."'
