حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اشْتَكَتْ النَّارُ إِلَى رَبِّهَا فَقَالَتْ أَكَلَ بَعْضِي بَعْضًا فَأَذِنَ لَهَا بِنَفَسَيْنِ نَفَسٌ فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَنَفَسٌ فِي الصَّيْفِ فَأَشَدُّ مَا يَكُونُ مِنْ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from al-Zuhri, from Sa'id — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The Fire complained to its Lord and said: "Parts of me are consuming other parts." So He permitted it two breaths: one breath in winter and one breath in summer. Thus the most intense heat [you feel] is from the exhalation [fayh] of Jahannam.'
