English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from al-Zuhri, from Sa'id — that a Bedouin entered the mosque and prayed two rak'ahs, then said: 'O Allah, have mercy on me and Muhammad — and do not have mercy on anyone with us!' the Prophet ﷺ turned to him and said: 'You have narrowed what is vast [God's mercy]!' The Bedouin soon urinated in the mosque and the people rushed toward him. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: 'You have been sent as those who make things easy — you were not sent as those who make things difficult. Pour a bucket [dalw] — or: a large bucket [sajl] — of water over it.'
