حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ خَيَّرَ النَّب
ِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا وَامْرَأَةً وَابْنًا لَهُمَا فَخَيَّرَ الْغُلَامَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا غُلَامُ هَذَا أَبُوكَ وَهَذِهِ أُمُّكَ اخْتَرْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Ziyad ibn Sa'd, from Hilal ibn Abi Maymuna, from Abu Maymuna — that the Prophet ﷺ gave a man, a woman, and their son the choice [of which parent the child would go with]. The boy chose [one of them]. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O boy — this is your father and this is your mother. Choose.'
