حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ أَبُونَا خَيَّبْتَنَا وَأَخْرَجْتَنَا مِنْ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ يَ
ا مُوسَى أَنْتَ اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلَامِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَخَطَّ لَكَ بِيَدِهِ أَتَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَنِي بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى حَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from 'Amr, who heard Tawus, who heard Abu Hurayra say — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Adam and Musa (عليهما السلام) debated [with each other]. Musa said: "O Adam, you are our father — you disappointed us and caused us to be expelled from Paradise." Adam replied: "O Musa, you are the one whom Allah chose for His speech [bi-kalamih]" — and on another occasion [Sufyan said]: "for His message [bi-risalatih]" — "and wrote for you with His own hand. Do you blame me for something that Allah had decreed upon me forty years before He created me?" [The narrator said:] Adam prevailed in argument over Musa. Adam prevailed over Musa.'
