حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَ

ةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ سَأَلَ النَّاسَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ تَكَثُّرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَسْأَلُ جَمْرًا فَلْيَسْتَقِلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ لِيَسْتَكْثِرْ

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad ibn Fudayl, from 'Umara, from Abu Zur'a — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever begs people for their wealth merely to accumulate more — he is [in effect] asking for coals [of fire]. So let him take little of it or let him take much [it makes no difference — it all becomes punishment].'
