English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Mu'awiya, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'At the back of the head of one of you is a rope with three knots. When he wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is untied. When he gets up and performs wudu, one knot is untied. When he stands up to pray, all his knots are untied.' He said: 'Then he wakes up energetic, with a pleasant soul, having attained good. But if he does not do this, he wakes up sluggish, with a foul soul, having attained no good.'
