حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيك
ٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ شِقْصٌ فِي مَمْلُوكٍ فَأَعْتَقَ نِصْفَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ خَلَاصُهُ إِنْ كَانَ لَهُ مَالٌ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ اسْتُسْعِيَ الْعَبْدُ فِي ثَمَنِ رَقَبَتِهِ غَيْرَ مَشْقُوقٍ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid [ibn Harun], from Sa'id [ibn Abi 'Aruba], from Qatada, from al-Nadr ibn Anas, from Bashir ibn Nahik — from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Whoever has a share [part-ownership] in a slave and frees his half — it is binding upon him to complete his [emancipation] if he has wealth. If he has no wealth, the slave is set to work [to earn] the price of his freedom, without being overburdened.'
