حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى الْحَس
َنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ أَحَدُكُمْ حَبْلَهُ فَيَذْهَبَ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَيَحْتَطِبَ ثُمَّ يَأْتِيَ بِهِ يَحْمِلُهُ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ فَيَبِيعَهُ فَيَأْكُلَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ وَلَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ تُرَابًا فَيَجْعَلَهُ فِي فِيهِ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ فِي فِيهِ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid [ibn Harun], from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Sa'id ibn Yasar (mawla of al-Hasan ibn 'Ali رضي الله عنه) — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul — for one of you to take his rope, go to the mountain, collect firewood, then come with it carrying it on his back and sell it and eat [from its proceeds] is better for him than to beg from people. And for him to take dirt and put it in his mouth is better than to put in his mouth what Allah has made forbidden for him.'
