حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ وَيَعْلَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ

فِي الْحَبَّةِ السَّوْدَاءِ شِفَاءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ إِلَّا السَّامَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا السَّامُ قَالَ الْمَوْتُ

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid and Ya'la, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, from Abu Salama — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'In the black seed [al-habbah al-sawda' — nigella sativa] there is a cure for every ailment — except al-sam.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is al-sam?' He said: 'Death.'
