English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Tawus, from his father — that the Angel of Death was sent to Musa (عليه السلام). When he came to him, Musa struck him [slapped him] and gouged out his eye. He returned to his Lord (عز وجل) and said: 'You sent me to a servant who does not want to die.' Allah restored his eye and said: 'Return to him and tell him to place his hand on the back of a bull — for every hair his hand covers, he will have one year [added to his life].' [Musa] said: 'My Lord — then what?' He said: 'Then death.' He said: 'Then [let it be] now.' So he asked Allah to bring him close to the Holy Land [al-ard al-muqaddasa] by the distance of a stone's throw. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If I had been there, I would have shown you his grave beside the road under the red sand dune.'
