English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri who said: 'Shall I not tell you two wondrous hadiths?' — [narrating] from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, from Abu Hurayra — from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'A man had been excessive [in sin] against himself. When death came to him, he instructed his sons: "When I die, burn me, then grind me to powder, then scatter me in the wind at sea. By Allah, if my Lord is able to [seize] me, He will punish me with a punishment no one has ever been punished with." They did that to him. Then Allah said to the earth: "Give back what you have taken!" — and suddenly he was standing. [Allah] said: "What made you do what you did?" He said: "Fear of You, my Lord — or: dread of You." So He forgave him for that.'
