قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ وَحَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ دَخَلَتْ امْرَأَةٌ النَّارَ فِي هِرَّ
ةٍ رَبَطَتْهَا فَلَا هِيَ أَطْعَمَتْهَا وَلَا هِيَ أَرْسَلَتْهَا تَأْكُلُ مِنْ خَشَاشِ الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ ذَلِكَ أَنْ لَا يَتَّكِلَ رَجُلٌ وَلَا يَيْأَسَ رَجُلٌ

English Translation
Al-Zuhri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that and Humayd narrated to me from Abu Hurayra — from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: 'A woman entered the Fire on account of a cat she had tied up — she neither fed it nor released it so that it could eat from the creatures [khashash] of the earth — until it died.' Al-Zuhri said: 'That [is narrated] so that a man neither becomes [too] complacent [relying on good deeds alone] nor falls into despair [of Allah's mercy].'
