حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْعَلَاءَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ ر

Abu Hurairah [may Allah be pleased with him]companion

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibn Abi 'Adiyy, from Shu'ba, from al-'Ala', from his father; and via Ibn Ja'far, from Shu'ba — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A false oath [al-yamin al-kadhibah] promotes [the appearance of] goods for sale but destroys [mamhaqah] the profit [al-kasb].' Ibn Ja'far [said in his version]: '...destroys the blessing [al-barakah].'
