English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurayra (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibn Abi 'Adiyy, from Shu'ba, from al-'Ala', from his father — that the Prophet ﷺ forbade making vows [al-nadhr] and said: 'It does not bring anything forward [does not change what is decreed], but it extracts [from wealth] the miser [yastakhriqu min al-bakhil].' Ibn Ja'far [said in his version]: '...through it [something] is extracted from the miser.'
