Hadith #248
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْر
ُونَ مَنْ الْمُفْلِسُ قَالُوا الْمُفْلِسُ فِينَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ لَا دِرْهَمَ لَهُ وَلَا مَتَاعَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمُفْلِسَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مَنْ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِصِيَامٍ وَصَلَاةٍ وَزَكَاةٍ وَيَأْتِي قَدْ شَتَمَ عِرْضَ هَذَا وَقَذَفَ هَذَا وَأَكَلَ مَالَ هَذَا فَيُقْعَدُ فَيَقْتَصُّ هَذَا مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ وَهَذَا مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ فَإِنْ فَنِيَتْ حَسَنَاتُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْضِيَ مَا عَلَيْهِ مِنْ الْخَطَايَا أُخِذَ مِنْ خَطَايَاهُمْ فَطُرِحَتْ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ طُرِحَ فِي النَّارِ

English Translation
Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Zuhayr, from al-'Ala, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Do you know who the bankrupt one is?' They said: 'The bankrupt among us is the one who has no money or possessions.' He said: 'The bankrupt of my ummah is the one who comes on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting, and zakah, but he insulted this one, slandered that one, consumed the wealth of this one, shed the blood of that one, and beat this one. So his good deeds will be given to this one and that one, and if his good deeds run out before his debts are settled, their sins will be taken and thrown upon him, and he will be thrown into the Fire.'
