English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, he said: Suhayl narrated to us from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) who said: They said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell us of a deed that equals jihad in the cause of Allah." He said: "You cannot bear it" — two or three times. They said: "Tell us, perhaps we can bear it." He said: "The example of the mujahid in the cause of Allah is like the one who fasts, prays, and is devoutly obedient to the verses of Allah, never ceasing from fasting or prayer until the mujahid returns to his family."
