English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us from Shu'bah, if Allah wills, he said: Muhammad ibn Ziyad narrated to us who said: Marwan used to appoint Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) as his deputy over Madinah. He would stamp his foot and say: "Clear the road, clear it! The amir has come, the amir has come!" (said in jest about himself). Abu al-Qasim ﷺ said: "Allah will not look at the one who drags his lower garment out of arrogance."
