English Translation

Yahya narrated to us, he said: 'Ubaydullah informed me from Sa'id, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Were it not that I would cause difficulty for my ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak with wudu, and I would have delayed 'Isha to the third or half of the night. When the third — or half — of the night has passed, He (Allah) descends to the lowest heaven, Exalted and Majestic, and says: 'Is there anyone asking so that I may give him? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone repenting so that I may accept his repentance? Is there anyone supplicating so that I may answer him?'" Ibn Numayr also narrated from 'Ubaydullah, from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Were it not that I would cause difficulty..." and he mentioned the same meaning, adding: "Allah (عز وجل) descends every night to the lowest heaven" and in it: "until the dawn breaks."
