Hadith #86
Arabic Text
قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَسُوقُ
بَدَنَةً قَالَ ارْكَبْهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ قَالَ ارْكَبْهَا وَيْلَكَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ أَوْ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ ارْكَبْهَا وَيْلَكَ قَالَ ارْكَبْهَا وَيْلَكَ

English Translation
He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i recited to 'Abd al-Rahman: Malik — and Ishaq narrated to us, Malik informed us — from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, though there is good in both. Be eager for that which benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be helpless. If something befalls you, do not say: If only I had done such-and-such. Rather say: Qaddar Allah wa ma sha'a fa'ala (Allah has decreed and what He wills He does). For indeed, "if only" opens the door for the work of Shaytan.'
