English Translation

Waki' narrated to us, 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, from Abu Muti' ibn Rifa'ah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ, that he forbade two types of transactions and two types of dress. As for the two transactions: mulamasah, which is that a man touches the garment of another without looking at it or examining it; and munabadhah, which is that a man throws his garment to another, and the other throws his garment to him, and that constitutes the sale between them without any examination or mutual agreement. As for the two types of dress: ishtimal al-samma', which is that a man wraps himself in a single garment with nothing beneath it, placing one end over his shoulder, exposing one side; and the other is that a man sits wrapping himself in a garment, placing his knees up with nothing covering his private parts.
