English Translation
'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from Zayd, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Beware of sitting in the roads.' They said: O Messenger of Allah, we have no choice; these are our gathering places where we converse. He said: 'If you must sit there, then give the road its rights.' They said: What are the rights of the road, O Messenger of Allah? He said: 'Lowering the gaze, refraining from harm, returning the greeting of salam, commanding good, and forbidding evil.'
