Hadith #480
سِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَشُجَّ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ حَتَّى سَالَ الدَّمُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ يُفْلِحُ قَوْمٌ فَعَلُوا هَذَا بِنَبِيِّهِمْ وَهُوَ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ { لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنْ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ }
English Translation
Hushaym narrated to us, Humayd al-Tawil informed us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه), that the Prophet ﷺ's ﷺ front tooth was broken on the day of Uhud, and he was wounded in his forehead until the blood flowed down his face. He said: "How can a people who wound the face of their Prophet succeed, while he calls them to their Lord?" Then Allah (عز وجل) revealed: 'Not for you is the decision' [3:128].
