English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us, Abdul-'Aziz ibn Suhayb narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) — and he said on another occasion: Abdul-'Aziz ibn Suhayb informed us, from Anas ibn Malik — who said: Mu'adh used to lead the people in the 'Isha prayer, and he would prolong it. A man from the Ansar came and prayed behind him, then left and prayed on his own. When Mu'adh was told about this, he said: "He is a munafiq [hypocrite]." When the man heard about this, he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him what Mu'adh said. the Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you want to be a fitnah-maker, O Mu'adh? When you lead the people, recite 'By the sun and its brightness' [91], and 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' [87], and 'Read in the name of your Lord' [96], and 'By the night when it covers' [92]."
