English Translation

Ibn Abi 'Adi narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: Abu Talhah (رضي الله عنه) used to fast frequently during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When the Prophet ﷺ died and then Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) died, Abu Talhah occupied himself with fighting and jihad, and he hardly ever fasted. Then when he had no expedition to go on, he returned to fasting and was hardly ever seen not fasting.
