حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ وَقَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ جَلَدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْخَمْرِ بِالْجَرِيدِ وَالنِّعَالِ وَج

َلَدَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ يَحْيَى فِي حَدِيثِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ عُمَرُ دَنَا النَّاسُ مِنْ الرِّيفِ وَالْقُرَى قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ مَا تَرَوْنَ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ اجْعَلْهَا كَأَخَفِّ الْحُدُودِ فَجَلَدَ عُمَرُ ثَمَانِينَ

English Translation

Yahya and Abu Nu'aym narrated from Hisham, from Qatadah — and Abu Nu'aym said: from Qatadah — from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: the Prophet ﷺ administered the punishment for drinking wine with palm branches and sandals. Abu Bakr gave forty lashes. Then when 'Umar's time came and the people drew near to rural areas and farms, he consulted with them and administered eighty lashes.
