حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ سَأَلَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْنَا فَكَيْفَ نَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ فَقُولُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ وَحَجَّاجٌ مِثْلَهُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ لَمْ أَسْأَلْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ هَلْ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أَنَسٍ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Yahya narrated from Shu'bah, from Qatadah — and Ibn Ja'far said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Qatadah — from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ asked the Prophet ﷺ so much that it troubled him. One day he ascended the pulpit and said: 'Ask me whatever you wish — by Allah, you will not ask me about anything except that I will tell you about it, as long as I remain in this place.' A man stood up and said: 'Where will my entrance be?' He said: 'The Fire.' Then 'Abdullah ibn Hudhafah stood up and said: 'Who is my father, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Your father is Hudhafah.' Then 'Umar knelt down and said: 'We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, Islam as our religion, and Muhammad as our Messenger.' Then the Prophet ﷺ descended.
