Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ جَنَازَةً مَرَّتْ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقِيلَ لَهَا خَيْرًا وَتَتَابَعَتْ الْأَلْسُنُ لَهَا بِالْخَيْرِ فَقَالَ النّ
َبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَبَتْ ثُمَّ مَرَّتْ جَنَازَةٌ أُخْرَى فَقَالُوا لَهَا شَرًّا وَتَتَابَعَتْ الْأَلْسُنُ لَهَا بِالشَّرِّ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَبَتْ أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ

English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) that a funeral passed by the Prophet ﷺ and good was spoken of the deceased, and tongues followed one another in praising him. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'It is settled.' Then another funeral passed by and evil was spoken of the deceased. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'It is settled.' 'Umar said: 'What is settled?' He ﷺ said: 'This one whom you praised with good — Paradise is settled for him. And this one whom you spoke evil of — the Fire is settled for him. You are the witnesses of Allah on earth.'
