حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ ذُكِرَ لِي أَنَّ
رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ مِنْهُ إِنَّ فِيكُمْ قَوْمًا يَعْبُدُونَ وَيَدْأَبُونَ حَتَّى يُعْجَبَ بِهِمْ النَّاسُ وَتُعْجِبَهُمْ نُفُوسُهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنْ الدِّينِ مُرُوقَ السَّهْمِ مِنْ الرَّمِيَّةِ

English Translation
Yahya narrated to us, from al-Taymi, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: It was mentioned to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said — though I did not hear it from him directly: 'Among you are people who worship and exert themselves until people are amazed by them and they are amazed by themselves, yet they pass through the religion as an arrow passes through its target.'
