English Translation

Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrated: Abu Talhah (رضي الله عنه) was in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [as a shield in battle], and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would raise his head from behind him to see where his arrows were landing. Abu Talhah would rise up and say: "May my father and mother be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah! Do not look out lest an arrow of the enemy strike you. Let my chest be before your chest."
