English Translation
Aswad ibn Amir narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik ibn Umayr, from Abu Talhah, from Anas (رضي الله عنه) who said: I passed by the Prophet ﷺ on one of the roads of Madinah and he saw a dome of reeds. He asked, 'What is this?' They said, 'This belongs to so-and-so.' the Prophet ﷺ remained silent, and the owner of the dome came and greeted the Prophet ﷺ, but he turned away from him. The man came from another direction and the Prophet ﷺ turned away from him. The man realized what had happened, so he demolished the dome. the Prophet ﷺ passed by later and did not see it. He said, 'What happened to the dome?' They said, 'Its owner complained of your turning away, so he demolished it.' the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Every building is a burden upon its owner, except what is necessary.'
