English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abu al-Tayyah, from Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) who said: 'The site of the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ belonged to Banu al-Najjar. In it there were crops, palm trees, and graves of the polytheists. the Prophet ﷺ said: Name your price for it. They said: We do not seek its price except from Allah. So the Prophet ﷺ ordered the graves of the polytheists to be exhumed, the trees to be cut down, and the palm trees to be lined up as the qiblah. The two doorposts were made of stone. They used to chant as they worked, and the Prophet ﷺ would say with them: O Allah, there is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirun.'
