حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ بَيْنَ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ وَبَيْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ كَلَامٌ فَقَالَ خَالِدٌ لِع
َبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ تَسْتَطِيلُونَ عَلَيْنَا بِأَيَّامٍ سَبَقْتُمُونَا بِهَا فَبَلَغَنَا أَنَّ ذَلِكَ ذُكِرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ دَعُوا لِي أَصْحَابِي فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ أَنْفَقْتُمْ مِثْلَ أُحُدٍ أَوْ مِثْلَ الْجِبَالِ ذَهَبًا مَا بَلَغْتُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, Humayd al-Tawil narrated to us, from Anas who said: There was a dispute between Khalid ibn al-Walid and Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf. Khalid said to Abd al-Rahman: 'You boast over us because of days you preceded us in.' This reached the Prophet ﷺ and he said: "Leave my Companions alone! By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, if one of you were to spend the like of Mount Uhud in gold, he would not reach the measure of one of them, nor even half of it."
