English Translation
Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Jabir, from al-Sha'bi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما), who said: "A young man from Banu Salamah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I saw a rabbit, and I threw stones at it but could not catch it.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Eat it.' The man said: 'I did not catch it (meaning it had already died).' He repeated it three times, then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Eat it, for it was slaughtered for you.'"
